Delhi High Court has directed police and civil administration to ensure peace and safety in Uttam Nagar ahead of Eid, amid rising communal tensions in the area.
The court directed authorities to take necessary action to prevent any untoward situation and create a secure environment for the festival.
Tensions in Uttam Nagar remain high after the killing of a 26-year-old man Tarun Kumar, who was allegedly attacked with bats, sticks, and stones during Holi celebrations.
Following his death, messages and threats against the Muslim community have emerged, with Hindutva organisations claiming they will avenge Tarun's death by saying 'khoon ki Holi Eid pe khelenge'.
The matter will now be heard on April 6, with security arrangements to stay in place till the festival of Ram Navmi.
