The Delhi High Court has dismissed a plea by the Unnao rape survivor to introduce additional evidence to establish her age. The court ruled that the case should be decided based on the evidence already on record.

A bench of justices Prathiba M Singh and Justice Madhu Jain was hearing the survivor's application to further examine two witnesses from her school in Uttar Pradesh. However, the court observed that a letter from the school stated that no documents, including a birth certificate, were submitted at the time of her admission.

The court also noted that the school's principal had appeared and given evidence before the trial court, and the admission register had been produced. In these circumstances, the court held that there was no need to call for additional evidence at the stage of hearing the appeal.

The application was preferred in expelled BJP leader Kuldeep Singh Sengar's appeal against the trial court's order convicting him for raping a girl in Unnao and sentencing him to imprisonment for the remainder of his life.
