Delhi is experiencing a sudden turn in weather, with rain and cooler temperatures brought by a rare western disturbance. The system, which intensified from Wednesday evening, is causing scattered showers and strong winds, with the maximum temperature dipping below 30 degrees Celsius for the first time in nearly a month. Weather experts have described the system as rare, with a trough spanning thousands of kilometers, creating strong thunderstorms and thunderclouds.

Dr. Pradeep, a climate scientist, said that the system is unusual and has the capacity to create very strong thunderstorms and thunderclouds. Amateur weather expert Navdeep Dahiya predicted cold day conditions in some places and heavy rains and thunderstorms in the interiors of Uttar Pradesh.

The IMD has issued a yellow-coloured warning, with the minimum temperature settling at 16 degrees Celsius, 4.5 below normal. The relief from the early February heat is temporary, with the maximum temperature expected to rise again from Friday as the impact of the western disturbance fades away.
