Dipsita Dhar, the firebrand youth leader of the Communist Party of India (Marxist), is contesting the 2026 West Bengal assembly elections from the Dum Dum Uttar constituency. She faces a tough challenge from Trinamool Congress's Chandrima Bhattacharya and the Bharatiya Janata Party's Sourav Sikdar.

Dhar, a PhD holder in Population Geography, has positioned herself as a representative of the struggling youth, using data-driven critiques of state policies to frame the election as a battle for 'dignified employment and scientific education.'

Her campaign focuses on 'Neighborhood Clinics,' better drainage infrastructure, and the creation of IT hubs to prevent the migration of local talent. If elected, she has promised to establish a 'Constituency Education Fund' to support students from economically weaker sections.

Dhar's political journey began with Kishore Bahini, and she rose to national prominence as the SFI's All-India Joint Secretary. Her affidavit mentions a single pending FIR from 2024, related to a protest in Kolkata.
