Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar has reached New Delhi to meet senior Congress leaders, amidst speculation over the Karnataka government's leadership.
Shivakumar, accompanied by Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, is expected to hold meetings with senior party leaders on Monday.
The visit comes amid renewed discussion within the Congress over a possible leadership change in the state government following the presentation of the 2026-27 state budget.
Shivakumar is currently holding the portfolios of water resources and Bengaluru development, and is also the president of the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC).
Earlier, Shivakumar said that an understanding had been brokered between him and Chief Minister Siddaramaiah when the Congress formed the government in Karnataka in 2023, involving sharing the chief minister's post for 2.5 years each.
Siddaramaiah has said he will abide by any decision taken by the party's high command regarding the state government's leadership.
