Senior DMK leader KR Periakaruppan has lost the Tiruppattur Assembly seat to Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam's R Seenivasa Sethupathy by a margin of just one vote.
The results were declared late on Monday after counting of votes from 30 poll booths in the Tiruppattur seat.
Seenivasa Sethupathy secured 83,375 votes, while KR Periakaruppan secured 83,374 votes.
BJP candidate Thirumaran K C came third with 29,054 votes.
