V. Senthil Balaji, a key political leader in Tamil Nadu, has been nominated by the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) from the Coimbatore South constituency for the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections.

This move marks a departure from his usual Karur base and is seen as a calculated effort by the party to expand its influence in a crucial urban constituency.

Coimbatore South has witnessed shifting political dynamics over the past few elections, with the AIADMK initially dominating the seat, followed by a gain from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in 2021.

The contest in Coimbatore South has become a triangular battle, with the DMK fielding V. Senthil Balaji, the AIADMK nominating Amman K. Arjunan, and the BJP's Vanathi Srinivasan looking to retain the seat.
