Thanjavur, India - The TVK party has dismissed the DMK's mega-conference in Trichy as a 'manufactured awakening', claiming it's an artificial attempt to boost their image.

TVK leader Nanjil Sampath mocked the DMK's massive mobilisation efforts, saying it's a forced show of strength rather than an organic movement.

The war of words comes as both parties vie for dominance in the crucial Delta region ahead of the 2026 Assembly polls.

The TVK alleged that the DMK is using government machinery to create a facade of momentum, and that their welfare schemes are being copied.

Sampath dismissed the DMK's 'Magalir Urimai Thogai' scheme, saying it's just a 'nutritious meal department' and not a genuine attempt to empower women.

He also highlighted the 'collapse' in the education sector, claiming that 12 state universities are functioning without Vice-Chancellors and that bribes as high as ₹70 lakh are being sought for professor appointments.

The TVK leader remained defiant on electoral tie-ups, asserting they have no immediate need for a coalition.
