The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has filed a petition with the Calcutta High Court, requesting a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into the alleged obstruction of its raids in Kolkata against I-PAC, a political consultancy firm. The ED claims that West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and senior police officials forcibly took away digital devices and incriminating documents during the raid, which was conducted as part of an alleged coal scam-linked money laundering case. The agency alleges that Banerjee entered the premises despite being asked to stay away, and that she and the police personnel 'hijacked' panch witnesses to write a false report about the search. The ED also claims that its officials were obstructed from carrying out their duties and is seeking an interim order to prevent any tampering with the seized digital devices and electronic records. The high court is expected to hear the petition on Friday.
