Ex-BJP MLA Sanchita Mohanty Passes Away at 67 After Brief Cancer Battle

Former Odisha MLA Sanchita Mohanty, a senior BJP leader, has passed away at the age of 67 after a brief illness. She was diagnosed with cancer just a week ago. According to family sources, Mohanty, who was elected to the Odisha Assembly in 2004, suddenly collapsed at her residence on Friday morning, just a day after attending her grandson's birthday party. Mohanty's untimely demise has been met with condolences from top Odisha leaders, including Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, Speaker Surama Padhy, and Leader of Opposition Naveen Patnaik. Odisha BJP president Manmohan Samal remembered Mohanty as a key figure in strengthening the party in Jajpur district. In a statement, Naveen Patnaik paid tribute to Mohanty's dedication to public service, saying her work would always be remembered. Mohanty is survived by her son, Satyakam, and is predeceased by her husband, Gopinath Mohanty, a former bureaucrat who passed away in 2021. Mohanty's legacy as a prominent leader in Jajpur district will be remembered for years to come.
