A shocking twist has emerged in the murder of 27-year-old Nikitha Godishala, whose body was found in Maryland, US. Her ex-boyfriend Arjun Sharma has been charged with first- and second-degree murder. Now, Nikitha's cousin and father have come forward with claims that Arjun used to borrow money from multiple people and may have killed her when she asked for the return of the loan. According to Nikitha's cousin, Saraswati Godishala, she had lent Arjun $4,500 on December 27, out of which he returned $3,500. However, when he requested an additional $1,000 on January 2, Saraswati denied the request. Nikitha had been following up with Arjun for the remaining $1,000 on December 31. Nikitha's father, Anand Godishala, also backed this claim, stating that Arjun had a history of borrowing money from several people, including his daughter. He alleged that Arjun may have killed Nikitha when she went to his flat to demand the return of her money. Police believe that Sharma killed Nikitha shortly after 7 pm on December 31. The investigation is ongoing, and the Indian Embassy is in contact with Nikitha's family. Nikitha was a resident of Hyderabad who moved to the US in 2021 for her studies. She worked as a data and strategy analyst at Vheda Health in Columbia and was pursuing a master's degree in health information technology at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County. The family has expressed shock and grief over Nikitha's death, and they are cooperating with the authorities to unravel the circumstances surrounding her murder.
