The father of 26-year-old Tarun Kumar, who died in clashes that erupted in Delhi's Uttam Nagar on Holi earlier this week, has demanded a CBI inquiry into his son's killing.

Kumar succumbed to his injuries the next morning after at least four people were injured in the violence, which broke out after a minor girl threw water balloons from a terrace, hitting a Muslim woman.

Tarun's family claims he was not present when the fight initially broke out, but was later waylaid and assaulted by eight to ten people with rods, sticks, and stones.

The family has appealed to PM Modi and Delhi CM Rekha Gupta for strict action against those responsible and a CBI inquiry into the matter.

Protests erupted in the area demanding justice for the victim, with some vehicles set on fire and the police deploying the Rapid Action Force to maintain law and order.
