A devastating incident unfolded in Andhra Pradesh's Nandyal district, where a 35-year-old construction labourer allegedly took the lives of his three minor children and then ended his own. The tragedy came to light on Thursday morning when the deceased's mother arrived at their residence, only to find the shocking scene. According to the police, the man's wife had passed away in August due to health issues, leaving him to care for their three young children alone. The authorities suspect that the burden of single parenthood, coupled with financial difficulties, may have driven him to take this extreme step. The police investigation revealed that the man had made phone calls to friends until midnight on Wednesday, hours before the tragedy. It is reported that he had mixed poison in milk for his youngest child and a cold drink laced with poison for the two daughters. The children, aged seven, four, and two, are believed to have died shortly after consuming the poisoned drinks. The man then allegedly hanged himself from the ceiling fan. The deceased's mother, who had come to spend time with her grandchildren on New Year's Day, was the one who discovered the tragic scene. She alerted the police, who immediately rushed to the scene and shifted the bodies to the Allagadda Government Hospital for post-mortem examination. The police have registered a case and are investigating the circumstances surrounding the tragedy.
