Former Army Chief Gen Manoj Naravane has penned a new book, The Curious and the Classified: Unearthing Military Myths and Mysteries, which delves into the lesser-known aspects of the Indian armed forces.
The book was inspired by Shashi Tharoor's A Wonderland of Words, which Naravane read two years ago.
The book shares several vignettes, including the origins of the popular cheer 'Chak de phatte' and the inspiration behind the foot-tapping number 'Badluram ka Badan'.
Badluram was a rifleman in the 1st Battalion of the Assam Regiment who was killed in action in the Battle of Kohima in 1944.
The song 'Badluram ka Badan' has become the regimental anthem of the Assam Regiment and has even transcended borders.
Naravane's book aims to bridge the gap between the Armed Forces and civilian society while giving a glimpse into the world of the military.
