The surge in jet fuel prices has led the global aviation industry to raise fares and revise financial outlooks. Airlines including Air India, IndiGo, and United Airlines have responded to rising fuel costs by increasing ticket prices and adding fuel surcharges on many routes.

Air India announced a revision of its fuel surcharge from a flat domestic surcharge to a distance-based grid, with passengers flying short-haul routes paying an additional ₹299 per sector and those on longer routes exceeding 2,000 km being charged up to ₹899.

IndiGo said it would introduce fuel charges on domestic and international flights, including new fuel surcharges of up to ₹950 per sector on domestic routes and ₹10,000 on long-haul international flights for all new bookings from April 2.

Other airlines such as Air France, Air New Zealand, and Alaska Air have also increased ticket prices, baggage fees, and checked baggage fees to offset soaring jet fuel costs.

Many airlines are reviewing their financial forecasts, delaying expansion plans, and focusing on cost-cutting and efficiency measures.
