The Goa district court has granted bail to Saurabh and Gaurav Luthra, co-owners of the nightclub Birch by Romeo Lane, where a devastating fire killed 25 people in December.

The brothers were granted bail on a ₹50,000 bond and a surety of a like amount, but will remain in jail in a second case where they are accused of submitting forged documents.

The fire at the nightclub was allegedly caused by electrically triggered pyro sparklers ignited during a dance performance, and the sparklers set the roof on fire.

The brothers had flown to Thailand after the tragedy, but were repatriated to India after an Interpol notice was issued against them.

They have been in custody since December 16 and are among six people arrested in connection with the fire, which also injured several tourists and staff.
