A Goa court has ordered the co-owners of 'Birch by Romeo Lane' nightclub, Saurabh and Gaurav Luthra, to five-day police custody. The brothers were arrested upon their return to India from Thailand, where they had fled after a devastating fire on December 6 killed 25 people. The brothers claimed to be suffering from back pain, but a medical examination found no necessity for treatment. The Luthra brothers had been detained in Thailand after India initiated a request through Interpol. Their passports were canceled, and they were issued emergency certificates to facilitate their return. The brothers are now facing charges under sections 105, 125(a) and (b), and 287 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. A total of seven individuals, including the Luthra brothers and their business partner Ajay Gupta, have been named in the case so far. The search is ongoing for Surinder Kumar Khosla, the British property owner who signed the lease for the club in 2023. The police investigation is expected to continue with the brothers in custody.
