HDFC Bank's chairman Atanu Chakraborty has resigned due to 'certain happenings and practices' within the bank that conflicted with his personal values and ethics.

Chakraborty cited these concerns in his March 17 letter to the board, stating that he observed these issues over the past two years.

The RBI has approved the appointment of Keki Mistry as the interim part-time chairman for three months starting March 19.

During his tenure, Chakraborty oversaw the historic merger between HDFC Bank and HDFC Ltd, creating one of the world's largest financial conglomerates.

Chakraborty expressed gratitude to the board, senior management, and employees for their dedication and professionalism.
