Hyderabad New Year's Tragedy: 1 Dead, 15 Hospitalized After Consuming Suspected Spurious Liquor

A 53-year-old man has tragically lost his life, and 15 others are fighting for their lives in hospital after allegedly consuming suspected spurious liquor and contaminated food during New Year's Eve celebrations in Hyderabad. According to police, a group of 16 friends had gathered at a residence in Bhavani Nagar to mark the occasion, where they consumed large quantities of alcohol and ate fish, biryani, and other food items. Following the consumption, several people began experiencing severe discomfort, including vomiting and intense chest pain. Family members and friends quickly rushed them to a private hospital in Suraram, where one of the victims, identified as Pandu, succumbed to his injuries during treatment. The police are still investigating the cause of the sudden illness, but are looking into the possibility of spurious alcohol consumption or food poisoning. "We are inquiring with the family members and friends about where they brought the food and liquor," said Jagadgirigutta police inspector B Venkatesham. "We have booked a case of suspicious death and are examining all possible angles.
