The father of Nikitha Godishala, a 27-year-old Hyderabad-born woman found dead in Maryland with stab wounds, has disputed claims that the accused was her former boyfriend. Instead, Anand Godishala revealed that Arjun Sharma, 26, was a former roommate who had taken loans from several people and was planning to return to India. According to Anand, Sharma had lived in the apartment with Nikitha and two other individuals before his departure. Nikitha, who had been living in the US for four years and working as a Data and Strategy Analyst, was reported missing on January 2, days after her last known call to her father on New Year's Eve. Her uncle said she had won the Best Employee award just last month. Anand alleged that Sharma initially approached the police in the US, but then fled to India after making a complaint. US authorities have obtained an arrest warrant against Sharma on first- and second-degree murder charges, alleging that he killed Nikitha and escaped to India. The grieving family has appealed to the Union and Telangana governments to ensure the early repatriation of Nikitha's mortal remains. They had initially been informed of her death by a cousin who also lives in the US. Nikitha was originally from Hyderabad and had last visited India three years ago. Her family currently resides in Tarnaka.
