Police in Odisha have sought government approval to proceed against a serving IAS officer in connection with an alleged ₹95 lakh land deal cheating case.

The officer, Aradhana Das, an additional secretary in the Home department, allegedly took ₹95 lakh from a woman with a disability after promising to sell a residential plot in Cuttack.

Das denied receiving any police notice and claimed the allegations were false, stating she had made an agreement with the woman's late husband.

Preliminary findings by the police have proved that ₹95 lakh was transferred to Das's bank account, with ₹85 lakh via RTGS and ₹10 lakh in cash.

The police have sought mandatory administrative clearance for action against the officer, which is required for senior officials.
