The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Gandhinagar has discontinued its association with guest professor Michel Danino following a Supreme Court order to dissociate from him and two others involved in drafting a withdrawn NCERT Class 8 textbook.

The institute will take corrective action to avoid misrepresentation on its website, which still carries Danino's profile showcasing his works and achievements.

Danino, a French-born scholar, has been affiliated with IIT Gandhinagar since 2011 and has been a guest professor in the Earth Science department.

He was instrumental in creating the Archaeological Sciences Centre and taught courses related to Indian Knowledge Systems, including 'Perspectives on Indian Civilization'.

The Supreme Court ordered governments and public institutions to dissociate from Danino and two others involved in drafting the textbook, which had a section on 'corruption in the judiciary.'
