India is deploying more warships to the Gulf of Oman to ensure safe passage for its fuel carriers through the Strait of Hormuz, a key chokepoint in the West Asia conflict.
The additional deployment will bring the total number of Indian warships in the region to six to seven, as tensions escalate following the US and Israel's attack on Iran.
Twenty-two India-flagged vessels are currently stuck west of the strait, while three Indian warships are already deployed east of the strait, escorting fuel carriers under their watchful eyes.
The Indian naval presence in the Gulf of Oman is maintained under Operation Sankalp, which predates the current military tensions in the region.
