Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the formation of seven empowered groups to tackle the impact of the ongoing conflict in West Asia, which has created a serious energy crisis globally.

The groups, comprising experts and officials, will be tasked with evolving strategies on fuel, supply chains, and fertilisers, among others, to mitigate the crisis.

Modi cautioned that the impact of the conflict could be felt for a longer period of time and assured the people of India that the government remains vigilant and proactive in formulating strategies to address the crisis.

The Prime Minister also urged state governments to strengthen efforts to ensure seamless supply of food and other essentials to the poor and migrant workers.

Modi's statement in the Rajya Sabha came a day after he addressed the Lok Sabha on the same subject, reiterating India's commitment to ensuring the safe arrival of all ships carrying essential goods.
