India has successfully tested an advanced Agni-5 missile equipped with MIRV (Multiple Independently Targeted Re-entry Vehicle) capability, marking a significant milestone in the country's defense capabilities.
The trial was conducted on May 8 from Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Island, with the missile successfully meeting all mission objectives.
The Agni-5 missile has a range of up to 5,000 km and is equipped with indigenous avionics and high-accuracy sensors.
According to the defence ministry, the missile was tested with multiple payloads aimed at different targets spread across a wide geographical area in the Indian Ocean region.
With this achievement, India joins an elite group of global powers with MIRV capabilities, including the US, UK, France, Russia, and China.
The successful test was witnessed by senior scientists and Army personnel, with Defence Minister Rajnath Singh congratulating the DRDO, the Indian Army, and industry partners on the successful missile flight test.
