Union Home Minister Amit Shah announced a nationwide crackdown on organized crime during the inauguration of a two-day anti-terrorism conference organized by the National Investigation Agency (NIA). Shah praised the agency's investigation into the Pahalgam terror attack, which resulted in the neutralization of three terrorists who killed 25 tourists and a pony operator in April. The minister highlighted the probe's success in identifying Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and The Resistance Front (TRF) as the masterminds behind the attack. Shah also commended the investigation into the Red Fort blast, where three tonnes of explosives were recovered before they could be used. He emphasized that the probes into the Pahalgam and Delhi terror attacks showcased exceptional 'watertight investigations' that serve as a benchmark for law enforcement agencies worldwide. The Home Minister announced a comprehensive plan to tackle organized crime, including the creation of a 360-degree assault strategy. He emphasized the importance of a unified approach in tackling terrorism, citing the need for a common Anti-Terrorist Squads (ATS) structure across the country. Shah also stressed the need for states to utilize the NIA's database on organized crime networks and looted/lost or recovered weapons to prevent the spread of terrorism. Shah's comments come as the NIA has filed a charge sheet in the Pahalgam terror attack case, naming Lashkar-e-Taiba, The Resistance Front, and several individuals involved in the plot. The probe has been hailed as a significant example of how vigilant law enforcement can prevent massive terrorist crises. The Home Minister's announcements and praise for the NIA's investigation underscore the government's commitment to tackling terrorism and organized crime. The conference is expected to focus on anticipating future challenges and implementing strategies to prevent them.
