The Union government has issued an advisory to states and Union territories to remain vigilant due to the heightened US-Iran conflict. Officials have been asked to monitor protests and individuals who may provoke unrest, with a focus on radical pro-Iran preachers and social media activities of suspected extremists.

Shia groups have already held protests in several cities, including Delhi, Srinagar, and Pulwama. The government has emphasized the importance of intelligence sharing and preventive measures to maintain law and order.

The potential targets in India could be US and Israeli embassies, consulates, tourists from these countries, Chabad houses, and Jewish community centers. Police have been instructed to take adequate security measures at these locations and prevent large gatherings.

The advisory comes after Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was killed in US and Israeli airstrikes, prompting a retaliatory missile and drone attack on Israel and US military facilities in the Gulf.
