The Indian government, represented by MoS for External Affairs Pabitra Margherita, attended the 40th-day mourning ceremony for Iran's late Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei at the Iranian embassy in New Delhi.
India had offered condolences a week after Khamenei's death in a joint US-Israeli airstrike on February 28, which sparked a six-week war in the West Asian region.
The government emphasized the need for dialogue and diplomacy to end the Iran-US conflict, citing potential 'serious consequences' for India's economy due to disruptions in trade and energy supply chains affecting nearly 10 million Indians living in the region.
