India Post Unveils Next-Day Delivery in 6 Major Cities

The Department of Posts (DoP) has launched next-day delivery services in six major Indian cities: Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, and Chennai.

Communications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia inaugurated the services at an event in New Delhi, marking a shift towards the fast-growing parcel delivery segment.

Under Phase 1, India Post has introduced 24-hour Speed Post, 24-hour Speed Post Parcel delivery, and 48-hour Speed Post services.

The services will be expanded to more cities by September-end, with an international rollout targeted by March 2027.

India Post aims to position itself as a key fulfillment and logistics partner for e-commerce platforms, such as Amazon, Flipkart, and Shiprocket.

Pricing for the 24-hour Speed Post service starts at ₹38 for local deliveries up to 50 grams, while Speed Post parcel delivery starts at ₹200 for up to 500 grams.

India Post will return customers' money if delivery isn't made within the stipulated timelines of 24 or 48 hours.
