India has expressed its concerns to the US over the abrupt cancellation of H1B visa interviews for thousands of Indian applicants. The US immigration authorities have postponed the interviews, scheduled from mid-December, to scrutinize the applicants' social media posts and online profiles. This move has left many Indians stranded in India, causing significant hardships to them and their families. According to External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal, the Indian government has received several representations from affected nationals and has flagged the issue to the US authorities in both New Delhi and Washington DC. Jaiswal emphasized that the government remains engaged with the US side to minimize disruptions to Indian nationals. The mass cancellation of interviews, resulting from enhanced vetting measures, has led to substantial delays in the return of Indian workers to the US. Many have been left without valid H1B visas, making it impossible for them to travel back to the US for work. The Indian government is working to resolve the issue and facilitate the return of its citizens to the US.
