India has rejected any involvement of third parties in resolving its boundary dispute with Nepal, days after reports that Nepalese Prime Minister Balendra Shah had sought the participation of China and the United Kingdom to address the long-standing issue.

External Affairs Minister spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal stated that any bilateral matters between India and Nepal are to be resolved solely between the two countries, with no role for any third party.

Approximately 98% of the India–Nepal border has already been demarcated, with a few issues remaining unresolved in certain sections due to changes in the course of the Gandak River.

Nepal and India have had an old boundary dispute over Lipulekh, Limpiyadhura, and Kalapani, with India maintaining that the territories are part of Uttarakhand.
