The Lok Sabha will resume its Budget session on Monday, with a no-confidence motion against Speaker Om Birla as the key agenda item. The motion, moved by three Congress lawmakers, alleges that Birla has failed to maintain an impartial attitude and has disregarded the rights of opposition members.
The resolution, which will be debated by MPs, lists several instances of Birla's alleged partisan behavior, including disallowing opposition leaders to speak and making unwarranted allegations against women MPs.
According to Lok Sabha rules, MPs speaking on the resolution will get 15 minutes each and are required to confine their remarks to the allegations mentioned in the notice.
It remains unclear whether Lok Sabha's Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi will take part in the debate, as he did not sign the notice against Birla.
