Senior diplomat Mahaveer Singhvi has taken charge as India's new consul general in Toronto, a move aimed at rebuilding relations and strengthening cooperation between the two nations.

Singhvi, who joined the Indian Foreign Service in 1999, has handled several important subjects, including counter-terrorism and technology.

The appointment comes at a crucial time, with India and Canada focused on deepening cooperation in areas such as trade, investment, and critical minerals.

India and Canada have made significant progress in recent months, including agreements on critical minerals and the supply of uranium ore, as well as the finalization of terms for a free trade deal.

Singhvi looks forward to working closely with Canadian stakeholders and the Indian diaspora to strengthen mutual trust and build a forward-looking partnership.
