On April 22, 2025, a brutal terror attack in Pahalgam, Kashmir, sparked a high-stakes military operation against nine targets in Pakistan. Dubbed Operation Sindoor, India's precision strikes dismantled key terror infrastructure, eliminated over 100 terrorists, and crippled Pakistan's air force.

Unlike prolonged conflicts like Ukraine and Afghanistan, Operation Sindoor achieved its objectives within four days, with minimal civilian casualties and negligible economic disruption in India. The Indian Air Force, leveraging advanced technology and indigenous systems, successfully countered Pakistan's drones and missiles, protecting key installations.

The operation showcased India's military professionalism, jointness, and indigenisation. The Navy maintained maritime pressure, while the Army and Air Force coordinated strikes on terror and military infrastructure. The government's reforms, including the creation of the office of chief of defence staff and shift toward indigenous defence production, were validated by Operation Sindoor's success.

The operation also highlighted the role of drones and AI-driven systems as force multipliers and demonstrated a whole-of-nation approach, integrating the armed forces, government, and private industry. The Indian military's Integrated Defence Staff ensured joint procurement and operations, enabling all three services to function on shared intelligence.
