The Commerce committee, led by TMC MP Dola Sen, has urged the government to strengthen domestic manufacturing facilities to improve the trade balance.

The committee's report noted a significant increase in US tariffs, which could impact finance, commerce, trade, and industry.

Despite tariff pressures, exports to the US grew by 11.28% to ₹58.99 billion during April-November 2025.

The report also highlighted negative growth in exports to Netherlands, Singapore, and Saudi Arabia.

The committee recommends targeted measures to enhance export competitiveness, diversify India's export basket, and focus on high-value sectors.

It also suggests strengthening domestic manufacturing capabilities, particularly in crude petroleum, gold, and electronic components.

The committee's aim is to minimize the negative impact of economic reasons and international policies on Indian industry and commerce.
