India has strongly condemned Pakistan's airstrike on a drug rehabilitation centre in Kabul, which killed around 400 people and injured 250 others.

The Omid Addiction Treatment Hospital, a 2,000-bed facility, was hit by Pakistani combat jets on Monday evening.

India's external affairs ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal called the airstrike a 'cowardly and unconscionable act of violence' and accused Pakistan of passing off a 'massacre as a military operation'.

The international community must hold the perpetrators accountable and ensure that Pakistan ceases targeting civilians in Afghanistan, Jaiswal said.

India has backed the Afghan Taliban regime during the ongoing clashes with Pakistan and reiterated its support for Afghanistan's sovereignty and territorial integrity.
