The National Testing Agency (NTA) has welcomed the Centre's decision to restrict access to Telegram in India until June 22, ahead of the NEET-UG 2026 re-examination.
The move aims to prevent fraud and misinformation targeting candidates, following reports of cheating rackets using the platform to defraud NEET candidates.
The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) has also directed Telegram to disable its message-editing feature in India until June 30.
The NTA said the measures were necessary to protect the integrity of the examination, despite potential inconvenience to legitimate users.
The NEET-UG 2026 re-examination will be conducted as scheduled on June 21, and candidates are urged to rely only on official NTA channels for updates.
