India has advised its citizens to avoid travel to Iran and leave the country by available means of transport due to heightened tensions in the region.

The Indian Embassy in Tehran issued the advisory in view of fresh military exchanges between Israel and Iran, which have raised concerns over a renewed escalation in the Middle East.

Israel and Iran traded blows, with Israeli forces carrying out strikes on multiple targets in Iran, including a petrochemical facility, and Iran responding with missile attacks targeting military sites in Israel.

This marks one of the most significant escalations since a ceasefire was reached in April following weeks of war between the two countries.

India has issued several advisories regarding travel to Iran since tensions in the region intensified earlier this year, with the latest notice being among the strongest issued by New Delhi.
