A Pakistani terrorist was gunned down in Uri sector of Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday, as the Indian Army foiled an infiltration attempt along the Line of Control.
A joint operation was launched on the intervening night of March 14 and March 15 based on a specific intelligence input provided by the J&K Police.
Alert troops spotted suspicious movement of a terrorist in the thicket and challenged him, resulting in the terrorist opening indiscriminate fire.
The operation took place in Buchhar in Uri sector, where warlike stores including an AK rifle, pistols, and a large quantity of ammunition were recovered.
This comes a day after the Amritsar Rural Police arrested two individuals and recovered a significant cache of weapons, including an AK-47 assault rifle and three Glock pistols.
Earlier this week, security forces had busted a terrorist hideout in a remote forest area in Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir, recovering an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) and some eatables and clothes.
