The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has successfully facilitated the return of a wanted Indian gangster, Sahil Chauhan, from Thailand.

Chauhan, a member of the notorious Bhuppi Rana gang, was wanted for murder, attempted murder, extortion, and dacoity in Haryana, Delhi, and Chandigarh.

He was also wanted by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and had been on the run since being released on bail in 2017.

The CBI, in collaboration with the MEA and MHA, obtained an Interpol red notice against Chauhan and worked with the Haryana Police to bring him back to India.

Chauhan was deported from Bangkok and taken into custody by a team of Haryana Police at Delhi International Airport on Friday.

This is part of the CBI's efforts to extradite fugitives, with 29 being brought back in 2023, 30 in 2024, and 50 in 2025.
