New Delhi/Srinagar: Indian students who were stranded in Iran due to the ongoing war have finally returned home, recounting their harrowing experiences of fear and uncertainty. The first batch of around 70 students, mostly from Jammu and Kashmir, landed in Delhi on Sunday after a nearly four-day journey by road and air.

The students, who were studying at various universities in Iran, had to travel by bus from universities across Iran to the Iran–Armenia border, cross into Armenia, and then fly from Yerevan to Dubai before boarding a connecting flight to Delhi.

Many students shared their terrifying experiences of living in fear as bombardments intensified around them. Naina Toiba, an MBBS student, recalled nights filled with the roar of fighter jets and explosions, while Tahir, a fifth-year MBBS student, said the danger escalated after the initial days of the conflict.

Despite the challenges, the students were relieved to have made it out alive and thanked the government for coordinating their evacuation. However, more than 1,000 Indian students are still believed to be stranded in Iran, and the Jammu and Kashmir Students Union has urged the government to launch a full-scale evacuation operation.
