IndiGo has announced a hike in airfare prices following the government's 25% increase in aviation turbine fuel (ATF) prices. The revised fuel charges vary from ₹275 for domestic flights under 500 km to ₹950 for flights over 2,000 km. International flights will see charges ranging from ₹900 to ₹10,000, with the highest increase for UK and European destinations.
The new fare will apply to bookings made after 1 am on Thursday. Fuel makes up around 40% of an airline's operating cost. The Ministry of Petroleum has passed on a partial and staggered increase of 25% to airlines to insulate domestic travel costs from international price hikes.
IndiGo has recalibrated its domestic fuel charge to vary by travel distance, with all domestic bookings from 0001 hrs on 02 April 2026 including revised fuel charges per sector.
