Iran's Ambassador Mohammad Fathali has stated that Tehran has not charged any toll to Indian oil and gas tankers transiting through the Strait of Hormuz since US-Israeli attacks in late February.

US President Donald Trump had criticized Iran for charging a toll, calling it 'world extortion.'

Iran's Ambassador emphasized the good relations between Iran and India, stating that they share common interests and a common fate.

About half of India's crude oil and LPG supplies pass through the Strait of Hormuz.

The Indian foreign ministry has also denied any discussion on the issue of toll between India and Iran.

India has been granted passage as a 'friendly' country by Iran, but New Delhi has categorically denied making any payment.

At least eight India-flagged LPG tankers have passed through the route, while the government has been rationing use, and rates on the grey market have spiked to up to 4 times the normal.
