The Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has seized two ships attempting to cross the Strait of Hormuz, including a container vessel en route to Gujarat in India.

The IRGC said the ships, EPAMINONDAS and MSC-FRANCESCA, endangered maritime security by operating without necessary permits and tampering with navigation systems.

The seized ships were directed to the Iranian coast, with the IRGC maintaining 'intelligent control' over the strait and vowing to monitor and deal with any actions deemed to violate Iran's maritime regulations.

The incident comes at a critical diplomatic juncture, with the US extending a ceasefire with Iran and maintaining a naval blockade of Iranian ports.
