The Andaman and Nicobar Islands may see a significant reduction in eligible voters following the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral roll. As per data released by the Chief Electoral Officer, around 21% of the listed electorate (approximately 64,014 electors) may be deleted due to reasons such as death, shifting, or absence. The SIR enumeration phase, which took place from November 4 to December 18, collected data from 79.38% of the electorate, leaving the remaining 20.62% to be dropped from the draft electoral roll for 2026. The reasons for deletion vary across districts, with the highest number recorded in South Andaman district (51,801 deletions) attributed to population movement and the presence of transferable employees and workers. North and Middle Andaman district saw 8,717 deletions, while the Nicobar district recorded the lowest number of deletions at 3,496. Electors whose names were deleted have been given the opportunity to apply for inclusion during the claims and objections period from December 23 to January 22. The final electoral roll for 2026 will be published after this process is completed.
