YSR Congress Party president Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy has asserted that Amaravati will remain an unrealistic model for a capital city despite receiving statutory status from the Centre.
He claimed that developing Amaravati would require nearly ₹2 lakh crore and accused Andhra Pradesh chief minister N. Chandrababu Naidu of using the project as a vehicle for financial scams.
Jagan proposed the Machilipatnam-Vijayawada-Guntur (Mavigun) regional capital corridor concept, which he said was the most practical solution considering Andhra Pradesh's economic realities and existing infrastructure.
He alleged that the Amaravati land pooling and returnable plots system disproportionately benefited politically connected individuals and business interests.
Jagan also accused the government of diverting public attention from the Mavigun proposal through controversies and fabricated narratives against the YSR Congress Party.
