A tense standoff erupted in Chomu town, Jaipur district, early on Friday when police attempted to remove iron railings installed outside a mosque. The move sparked a violent reaction from a mob, who pelted stones at the police, injuring four officers. The incident began around 3 am near the bus stand area, approximately 40 kilometers from Jaipur. Police had been trying to clear the road of encroaching iron railings since Thursday evening, after community members agreed to remove stones placed on the road area. However, some individuals allegedly installed the railings again, sparking fresh objections and unrest. As police used a JCB machine to remove the railings on Friday morning, the situation turned violent. Some miscreants began pelting stones, injuring four policemen who were later taken to a hospital. Additional police forces were deployed from nearby stations to maintain law and order. To prevent further deterioration, internet services have been suspended in Chomu for 24 hours, and police personnel have been conducting flag marches in the town since morning. Senior officials have formed teams to identify and arrest those involved in the violence. 'The situation is under control,' said Director General of Police (Law and Order) Sanjay Agarwal. 'Strict action will be taken against those who took the law into their hands.' Additional Deputy Superintendent of Police Usha Yadav added, 'Two to three others have also sustained minor injuries, and all senior police officers are on the spot.'
