External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar met with top EU leaders in Brussels, discussing key global issues like the Ukraine and West Asia conflicts, Indo-Pacific situation, and India-EU trade.

Jaishankar attended the Foreign Affairs Council meeting, where he held separate talks with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and EU foreign ministers from Germany, Belgium, and other member states.

The discussions covered trade, investment, technology, mobility, and defense, with a focus on translating agreements into outcomes.

Jaishankar's visit comes after India and the EU concluded a free trade deal and several important agreements, including the Security and Defence Partnership, at the India-EU Summit in January.

EU foreign and security policy chief Kaja Kallas emphasized the need to protect shipping in the Strait of Hormuz and address the war in Ukraine, while Von der Leyen highlighted the importance of efficient implementation of the India-EU Summit outcomes.
