Former Tamil Nadu BJP president K Annamalai's visit to Delhi has sparked rumors of his possible exit from the party, although he has not made an official announcement on the purpose of his visit.
The visit comes as parties are finalizing candidates for the Rajya Sabha elections, which will be held on June 18.
There are media reports suggesting that Annamalai may float a new political outfit, although party leaders have declined to comment.
A state leader said that if Annamalai were to float a new party, it would be seen as an 'anti BJP' front, as he has been at odds with a section of party leaders in the state.
Annalai's tenure as state president was marked by acrimony between leaders in the state unit and a rift with the AIADMK, which parted ways with the BJP in 2023.
