A 46-year-old woman from Karnataka's Yadgir district died by suicide after her family faced a prolonged social boycott over accusations involving her son.

The woman jumped from the Joladadagi Bridge-cum-Barrage on Saturday night, and her body was recovered by fire and emergency services personnel on Sunday afternoon.

According to police, the family had been under social boycott for several months after community leaders accused her son of having an extramarital relationship with a pregnant woman from the same community.

Two people have been detained in connection with the case, while efforts are underway to trace three other suspects.

A case has been registered at Wadgera Police Station under Crime No. 58/2026 under Section 108 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for abetment to suicide.
